Abstract

Introduction: We report a case of unilateral leukemic infiltration of the optic nerve caused by acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Case report: A 30-year-old woman with acute lymphoblastic leukemia beginning 3 months before was referred for left visual loss. The left fundus showed optic disc engorgement by infiltrating tumor, with numerous hemorrhages and exudates caused by optic nerve leukemic infiltration. Conclusion: Optic nerve leukemic infiltration is considered as central nervous system damage with severe prognosis. Treatment is based upon systemic and intrathecal chemotherapy and central nervous system radiation. © 2006. Elsevier Masson SAS. Tous droits réservés.
