Filipinas en la historia del constitucionalismo español y su representación en las cortes españolas

Abstract

The Philippines islands were the last Spanish overseas colonies. Thus, Philippines government system was regulated by several Spanish legal ordinances from 19th century. This article analyzes the different Spanish Constitutions (which created those legal ordinances) to understand its function over this archipelago in the Pacific land. On the other hand, we examine the participation and obstacles of the few Philippines congressmen who were members of the Spanish Parliament along History. Thanks to the contextualization of these Constitutions in the Spanish society and the global system, we will know in a legal way how Philippines became from a possession with similar rights such as America to a colony of second position.
