Abstract

The article mentions the concept of approach avoidance in social networking which results from a fear that one will be judged on the accuracy or utility of one's recommendations. The article "How Leaders Create and Use Networks," which is by Herminia Ibarra and Mark Hunter and in the January 2007 issue of this journal, offers advice to managers about developing skills in interpersonal communication.
