Abstract

This chapter reviews the psychological and psychiatric consequences of amphetamine use, including the related behavioral pharmacology and neurobiology. This chapter reviews the psychiatric disorders included in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders related to amphetamine usage. These disorders include amphetamine intoxication, amphetamine withdrawal, and amphetamine-induced psychosis, anxiety, mood, sexual, and sleep disorders. The review of these disorders describes their psychological and behavioral symptoms, along with the neurobiological and clinical issues.
