Abstract

In the article some ways to improve the quality of the railway operation and to satisfy the demand for the transportation of cargos of small volume using the existing infrastructure of the railway and other modes of transport are considered. Possible schemes of passenger service and delivery of their freight luggage are considered in combination with the principles of logistics and interoperability to extend the servicing options of the railway. The most complete servicing scheme involves comprehensive customer service, either as a passenger or as a customer of the door-to-door cargo delivery service. The propositions for convenient implementation of the servicing and delivery process include: creation and use of a software product that will be implemented as a client-server application, development and introduction of a single shipping document which will not require any re-registration when the cargo is transferred to another mode of transport involved in the delivery.
