Abstract

Dense Si//3N//4 ceramic bodies with additives of nitrides such as AlN, TiN, YN, VN, NbN and ZrN were farbicated by high pressure hot-pressing and HIPing under 0. 15-3. 0 GPa and 1650 degree C-1800 degree C for 1 hour. Temperature dependences of Vickers microhardness and fracture toughness were measured from room temperature to 1200 degree C. Little change was observed in this temperature range.
