Abstract

It is essential that the clinician correctly identifies the aetiology of the ptosis, which will allow one to forge ahead with confidence and carry out surgical repair of the ptosis. It is important to remember that ptosis may represent the first manifestation of a systemic and possible neurological illness that could be life-threatening, or at least life-changing. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.
