Abstract

Purpose: The aim of the study is to develop and justify a scientific approach to public management of its technological support for the “green” future of the digital economy. Design/methodology/approach: The basis of this study is regression analysis. On the basis of the established regression dependencies, scenarios are compiled, each of which implies optimizations in case of priority of one of the indicators, and simplex method determines the values that should be taken by the dependent variables to achieve the priority in the scenario of the dependent variable of the target value. As a result, the arithmetic mean of the calculated values of independent variables are determined (provided that their values do not decrease as compared to 2019)— this is how a scenario is created that provides a balanced “green” digital future of the modern economy. Findings: The results of the study showed that a balanced “green” digital future is possible with sufficient technology. A scientific approach to achieving it, based on scenario-based modeling based on official statistics, allows for simultaneous increases in productivity, efficiency, security and sustainability, i.e. a balance of all priority results. It is noteworthy that the scientific approach is universal and implies simultaneous (not limited depending on national features) growth of all digital competitiveness indicators. Originality/value: The most valuable conclusion of the study is that a balanced “green” digital future implies further scientific and technological progress and a transition from the digital economy to industry 4.0.
