Abstract

The segmentation of retinal blood vessels is a challenging problem because the retinal blood vessel is a very small and low contrast vessel. In this paper, the author proposes a new method to increase the retinal blood vessel segmentation in shearlet domain. The proposed method includes three steps. Firstly, the author removes noise in shearlet domain. Secondly, region-growing is used to identify the retinal blood vessel. Finally, adaptive histograms based on thresholdingare applied to remove the portion not related to blood vessels. The proposed method is better than the other recent methods based on the compared results.
