Abstract

Tourism is a sector of the economy that grew strongly during 2019 internationally, in Colombia and in Puerto Nariño–(Amazonas), which leads to a contribution in greenhouse gas emissions (ghg). This study calculates the carbon footprint of the urban part of the municipality of Puerto Nariño, taking into account the activities of: urban waste disposal, use of propane gas, refrigerant gases, energy consumption and gasoline for engines. As a result, 2020.98 t (tons) of CO2 eq/year were obtained, which is equivalent to an ecological footprint of 3886.5 ha (hect-ares) or 19.43 times the area of its district. For this reason, energy consumption is the main activity that generates carbon dioxide, and the second is river transport.
