Abstract

On 10 September 1996, the United Nations General Assembly in New York adopted the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) to prohibit nuclear explosions in any environment – underground, in the atmosphere or in water. A global verification regime has been set up to support the CTBT.
