Abstract

Imaging children is always a challenge due to the wide range of sizes and ages that comprise the pediatric patient group. Techniques therefore need adapting to account for this variability and to take into account the different disease processes that can affect children. Consideration for performing the study should include at the time of the request for study whether the study will help in the care of the child. This is particularly important when hybrid imaging is to be performed with the added risk of CT radiation dose (Brenner et al. 2001; Brenner and Hall 2007; Goske et al. 2008, 2009).
