Results of a study on the learning of Natural Selection are presented, focusing on the lines for the design of an instructional sequence used with secondary school students, taking into account the alternative ideas they use to interpret biological change. Some aspects of the conceptual change model are discussed, as well as the convenience of working other curricular topics with a similar methodology, from a perspective viewing educational problems related to complex causes.
