Abstract

1. The formation of medusa buds on the polyps of Rathkea octopunctata is studied and compared with budding of medusae from the manubrium of the same species. 2. In contrast to the latter, which is exclusively ectodermic, medusa budding of polyps involves both the ectodermal and endodermal layers comprising the parent organism. © 1965 Biologischen Anstalt Helgoland.
