Abstract

This chapter discusses the most common purposes for which organizations use Enterprise Modeling. Three categories of objectives have been identified: (1) to develop the business, (2) to ensure the quality of the business, and (3) to use EM as a problem-solving tool. Modeling for these objectives is discussed in terms of input models and documentation, models to be developed, modeling language requirements, modeling process requirements, tool requirements, and model quality requirements.
