Abstract

During the round of the CTBT talks at the Conference for Disarmament (CD) which finished in December 1994, the Russian Federation delegation proposed its own variant of the Global Monitoring System (GMS) which combines high effectiveness and low cost. The main components of this GMS are the following subsystems: seismic, radionuclide, infrasonic and hydroacoustic. The placement of each of these subsystems is shown on figure 1. This variant includes the following provisions for the control of different types of N-tests.
