Post-solid organ transplant (SOT) complications significantly affect the morbidity and mortality of transplant patients. This teaching script presents an approach to a patient with a SOT presenting with an acute clinical problem, including how to obtain a focused transplant history and identify risk factors for infectious and noninfectious complications. A patient with a lung transplant is used to illustrate the process that would be applicable to any patient with an organ transplant.
