Abstract

This paper reports cellular automata (CA) based efficient encoding technique for wavelet transformed data of still image. The encoding technique handles wavelet coefficients, in transformed domain, and then simulates different classes of transforms with the introduction of CA framework. It ideally suits for low cost implementation of the compression technology for still images. Reported experimental results establish the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2006.
