Abstract

The dynamic performances of a mechanical product under uncertainty have significant influence on the quality of the product. In this research, the relationships between dynamic performance and design parameters are derived based on component modal synthesis (CMS). The first natural frequency is used in this work as the dynamic performance measure. The accuracy of the dynamic model is verified by FEA method. An optimal robust design model is introduced to minimize the dynamic performance variation. An industrial application is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the robust design approach considering dynamic performance. © Springer-Verlag London 2013.
