Abstract

Solvent effects on transient negative ions are surveyed with a model that combines the polarizable continuum approach with the Schwinger multichannel method for electron scattering. The solvent reaction field is allowed to act on the many-body wave function of the anion and stabilizes the transient states. The model is applied to π* temporary ions of several molecules. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
