Abstract

This study aims to examine the competitiveness of alternative tourism in Bali Province related to ecotourism and spiritual tourism through comparative advantage as a mediator. The population in this study is alternative tourism business managers, government, academics, and community leaders. This study uses a positivism-based quantitative design. The unit of analysis is destinations related to ecotourism and spiritual tourism. Data analysis used the PLS SEM approach. The results showed that (1) ecotourism had a positive but not significant effect on the competitiveness of alternative tourism. Spiritual tourism has a positive but not significant effect on the competitiveness of alternative tourism. (3) Ecotourism has a positive and significant effect on comparative advantage. (4) Spiritual tourism has a positive and significant effect on the competitiveness of alternative tourism. (5) Comparative Advantage has a positive and significant effect on the competitiveness of alternative tourism. Theoretically, this research contributes to determining the competitiveness of destinations through comparative advantage as a mediator. Comparative advantage is very important in maintaining the competitiveness of alternative tourism in Bali.
