Abstract

The chapter focuses on delusional disorders of a somatic type with false beliefs that have a content related to skin. We describe some general issues relevant for the group of delusional disorders as a whole and specifically focus on delusional body dysmorphic disorder, delusional olfactory reference syndrome, and illness delusions or delusions of disease. Delusional infestation is discussed in a separate chapter. Special attention is given to the system of delusional believes and relevant delusional behaviours. Precise differential diagnosis with other psychiatric conditions and some general consideration about treatment approaches are provided.
