Abstract

Combining the literature and the authors’ own experience, the authors have made a network with guidelines that has been put together concerning the way of evaluation of implant and tissue interaction. The authors discuss (1) implant surface “attitude” toward surrounding tissues and corresponding tissue capsule “attitude” to the implant, with three categories; (2) intima implant capsule appearance, with three stages; and (3) periprosthetic capsule, with three types. Described are early and late inflammatory reactions to implants and the late seroma with three clinical forms: (1) asymptomatic late seroma, (2) associated late seroma, and (3) reactive late seroma.
