Abstract

An understanding of the maintenance of normal body temperature, and the manner in which surgery, anesthesia, and related procedures may disturb thermoregulation, is of considerable importance in pediatric anesthesia. The subject of accidental hypothermia, with particular reference to the newborn infant, is reviewed; and hyperpyrexia is briefly discussed. 54 references are cited.
