Abstract

With the increasing demand for wireless communication services, efficient and effective radio resource management strategies that can cope with the time-varying nature of the wireless channel are essential. Two of the main resource management functions in a CDMA system are power control and rate allocation. This chapter presents a unified approach for power distribution and allocation in a multirate wideband CDMA system. Adaptive schemes to perform power control and rate allocation to enhance resource utilization are described. © 2009 Springer-Verlag US.
