Abstract

The circumstances of my PhD thesis in Design are a bit extraordinary in several ways: they were exceptionally good concerning practicalities, even though they were somewhat political concerning the disciplinary establishment of design as research practice. As a result, I might have had more freedom to experiment, but I also had a constant feeling of risk and uncertainty due to the lack of role models.
