Abstract

Teachers need to develop professional error competence in order to support students' learning from errors. Therefore, our aim was to develop a training programme for pre-service teachers to support the acquisition of error knowledge and to promote strategies for dealing with students' errors constructively. We developed a training focusing on content knowledge and knowledge about domain specific students' errors, and one focusing on pedagogical content knowledge, especially on strategies for handling errors in a way that provides opportunities to learn. Both training programmes were designed in a similar way, but with varying content. In this chapter we will present the training development, the training modules, and materials. The results of the training programmes' evaluation will be reported in Chap. 6.
