Abstract

A variety of orders release mechanisms have been developed for workload control. However, in many situations it is difficult to fully understand the behaviour of these mechanisms due to its complexity. In this paper order release mechanisms are compared by studying the influence of single release strategies. Simulation results show that real world order release mechanisms are likely to benefit from incorporating the workload balancing and the atemporal workload accounting over time strategies. © 2008 International Federation for Information Processing.
