Abstract

The solid material is used in electrical machines, where is impossible or inappropriate to use electrical steel sheets. High-speed motors are very often designed with solid rotor because of better mechanical strength than electrical sheets. It is useful to know properties of rotor material because of high requirements on efficiency and material strength. The aim of this study is to describe the magnetic behavior of used material. Toroid-shaped samples were measured for different sizes and changes in parameters of magnetic properties were observed. The magnetic parameters were obtained by measuring of hysteresis loops in dependence on saturation fields and their frequencies. Measurements were performed for alternating and direct magnetic fields. The results are discussed from the point of view of changing parameters of magnetic properties in dependence on the size of samples and applications as a solid rotor in high-speed machines.
