Abstract

The concept of Virtual Enterprise proposes a way of collaboration for different companies to exploit business opportunities to fulfil continuously changing market needs. This paper presents the approach proposed in Mastrit Skin project for the development of new technologies for the leather sector that will enable the formation of new virtual enterprises. The main objectives of this research are: (i) analyse the "as is" state of the leather sector, (ii) peiform an initial insight of the leather industry Clusters and the need of a Broker to promote, initiate and create new Virtual Enterprises and (iii) describe how the proposed new technologies will be developed by the the formation of Virtual Enterprises. © 2004 by Springer Science+Business Media New York.
