Abstract

The present paper reviews the literature on recent ethno medicinal uses algae and Spirulina platensis from (1975- 2012).The paper covers the latest development on the utilitarian properties of algal extract .Their application as the component of pharmaceuticals, feed for humans, antifungal, antiviral, antibacterial, antiplasmodial discussed. This review is an attempt to consolidate the latest studies and critical research in this field and to showcase the immense competence of microalgal uses as a potential and promising source of novel compounds. © 2011 IGJPS.
