Abstract

An online discussion site is a constituent of numerous internet platforms. A large number of visitors, simplicity of publishing information as well as high level of trust in the posted information create an environment vulnerable to mind manipulation processes. This research is devoted to the development of the system for detecting manipulation in online discussions. Considering peculiarities and tendencies of communication in online discussions, the architecture of the system for detecting manipulation was designed. Peculiarities and tendencies were classified according to temporal type and level. The system for detecting manipulation consists of two components: the system of filters, which outputs the set of profiles, whose activities should be monitored; and a tool for tracking users` actions in real time. The latter is aiming at detecting initiated manipulations. The system of filters is constructed on the basis of profile features, which belong to the static temporal type. Static features provide a general impression of user`s activities in online discussions. The tool for monitoring activities operates on features of the dynamic temporal type. Piecewise-linear aggregates are used for modelling the tool. Schemes of manipulations are created by means of transactional analyses and formal tools of neurolinguistics programming.
