Crystallization-assisted asymmetric transformation can be used to prepare single diastereomers of optically pure boron complexes (boroxazolidinones) from amino acids and KBF3. Conversion into enolates followed by alkylation results in optically pure α-alkyl amino acids after methanolysis of the boron complex. © 1993 IUPAC
