This chapter concludes this study by summarizing the results of the book and placing them in their larger context. We draw some general conclusions concerning the relationship between migration, translocality, and “(rural) development” and give answers to the following questions: (1)Do translocal livelihoods have a balancing effect on structural inequality? (Sect. 7.1)(2)Is the translocality of livelihoods in sub-Saharan Africa a temporary phenomenon? (Sect. 7.2)(3)Is the translocality of livelihoods a problem of “(rural) development” or a solution for it? (Sect. 7.3) At the end of this book, we advocate for a translocal awareness in development practice in order to make translocal development possible.
