Abstract

Underwater sensor network (UWSN's) localizations play a very crucial role in order to monitor or to track the underwater critters or any kind of underwater application. Many different methods for terrestrial sensor network localization have been developed, but for underwater sensor localization, it is still having many big challenges. The main reason is RF signals, as in underwater it will propagate very less. This paper deals with the design challenges that are faced by the UWSN localization, in which the locations of the unknown sensor node will be estimated by using the acoustic signals that is sent by the sensor nodes and after locating the UWSN. It will be then helpful for tracking and monitoring the underwater critters like fishes which is one of the major sources for countries economy. Hence, this UWSN localization will help the fisherman's to find the location of the aquatic creatures in well advanced and as a result will take a step forward toward in growing the economy of the country. © Springer India 2015.
