Abstract

Protecting the environment is at the moment essential for ensuring sustainability for future generations. Climate change and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are primarily responsible for the process and delivery of the Global Warming. This paper aims to study how the various policies and economies in the world influence CO2 emissions. For this purpose, a research was done about which variables were considered in literature. It was concluded that there are references to various aspects such as: use of fossil fuels as a source of energy, renewable energies, energy efficiency, international technological cooperation, population information and several economic factors or development of the country. We use data for the year 2014 available from the World Bank on the various issues under consideration and over 64 countries. A multivariate linear regression was used to study the statistical significance of the variables considered in the CO2 emissions of these countries.
