The word "influenza" was originated from the Italian language, meaning "influence. " Since the disease caused by influenza virus infection occurs more often in winter seasons, it was thought in the ancient world to be caused by the influence of astrological movements [1]. Influenza virus continues to cause yearly seasonal epidemics worldwide and periodically pandemics.
