This chapter explores some of the issues related to the researcher’s position as a working-class woman who went to grammar school and then taught in both grammar and secondary schools, utilising researcher reflexivity. This chapter finishes with a brief discussion of the approach that was taken to the research and examines some of the initial school interactions, which are important to gaining an understanding of the institutional habitus of each school.
