Children's welfare is paramount for society and must be safeguarded. A child can be harmed emotionally, physically, sexually or through neglect of their basic needs. The consequence of such harms can be severe and last even beyond into adulthood. It is essential to prevent these harms or identify them early so that they are dealt with effectively.
