Abstract

The Islamic perspective of humanizing business is one that relates to a core concept in Islam: Tawheed which describes not only the unity of God, but the unity of mankind engaged in various activities which are inherently related. Business and work are therefore ways of worshipping God provided these are engaged in honestly. Justice, respect, compassion, and trust are emphasized in all business related activities that are halal (permissible) no matter who the stakeholder is. Racism, sexism and discrimination of any kind are abhorred in business relations. Finally, the conduct of business should not be at the expense of the environment since in Islam, God has appointed humankind as his Vicegerent on earth.
