Abstract

Multiagent system's applications in industry have been widely investigated to support emerging production paradigms and models. One of the key concepts of these approaches is the utilization of a highly dynamic environment whereby intelligent agents are able to take autonomous decisions and self-organize to circumvent production disturbances. Deployment is a fundamental activity in these systems and entails significant technical and conceptual challenges. There are only a few documented deployment platforms for agents in a mechatronic context. This paper presents the deployment philosophy developed and tested under the framework of the FP7 IDEAS project. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.
