Abstract

Thermally conductive polymer composites can replace metals in many applications. This technology is a substantial improvement since polymers are commonly used due to their thermal isolating properties. The advantages of thermally conductive polymers over metals are reduced density, increased corrosion, oxidation, and chemical resistance, increased processibility; and properties are adjustable to fit the application. However, polymers have many disadvantages, for example, creep, thermal instability, and nobiodegradability. In this chapter, a review of the enhancement thermal conductivity of biopolymer composites is presented.
