Abstract

Tactile working memory was found to be more developed in completely blind (congenital and acquired) than in semi-sighted subjects, indicating that experience plays a crucial role in shaping working memory. A model of working memory, adapted from the classical model proposed by Baddeley and Hitch1 and Baddeley 2 is presented where the connection strengths of a highly cross-modal network are altered through experience. © 2011 Landes Bioscience.
