Abstract

SNA was used to study interactions between Twitter users during the Queensland 2010–2011 floods, one of the worst Australian flooding disasters. Influential members of the online community that emerged during the floods as well as important resources being referred to were identified. The analysis confirmed the active part taken by local authorities, namely, Queensland Police, government officials, and volunteers. Concerning online resources suggested by users, no sensible conclusion can be drawn as important resources identified were more of a general rather than critical nature. This might be comprehensible as it was the post-flood period.
