This chapter introduces the reader to current issues in interventions with couples, with a particular emphasis on the influence of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Therapy (CT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction. The authors also examine the theoretical similarities and differences of these models that all fall under the umbrella of Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Further, marriage education organizations such as Smart Marriages, Marriage Savers, and Marriage Assistance through Educational Seminars, as well as their effectiveness, are discussed. The chapter concludes with information about Gottman's couple's theory, and concludes with the present status of RE&CBT with couples.
