Abstract

My talk will describe the evolution from Intelligent Computer Assisted Instruction to Intelligent Tutoring Systems to Interactive Learning Environments. I will theorize about why that evolution occurred and what are the critical characteristics of Interactive Learning Environments that will make them successful. I will then speculate about how Interactive Learning Environments will in the foreseeable future come to play a major role in education.
