Abstract

The chapter analyzes Uber’s activities in Germany facing strict regulation of the passenger transportation service sector. Uber entered Germany in 2014 and expanded its services accompanied by legal issues right from the beginning (I). The strictly enforced regulations and separation of the different market sectors in Germany (II) created various problems for Uber which culminated in a nationwide ban of UberPop in 2015 (III).
