Abstract

The rocks and structures of Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela record several major episodes of tectonism that built and shaped South America. Each tectonic phase added material to the northwestern margin of the Guyanan craton. A suite of correlative rocks bounded by regional unconformities (herein referred to as tectonosynthem) characterizes each period of deformation and amalgamation. -from Authors
