Abstract

This study is the first attempt to quantify the chemical stratigraphy of the South Caspian Productive Series sediments, based on their macro- and microelemental compositions. The results show a good correlation between the content of some of the elements and the lithology of studied sediments, which allows chemostratigraphic units to be distinguished within the Productive Series, and subsequently correlated to the main stratigraphic complexes.
