Abstract

This paper discusses Makassar oral literature, called sinrilik. This oral literature is viewed in the present context of the owners of the oral literature. Sinrilik used to be a very popular art, used for entertainment and as a means to teach local wisdom and values for use by the community. However, sinrilik oral literature has become more and more marginalized, and few people use it now. This is due to changes in the values and attitudes of the Makassar community and the rapid development of technology and information, providing people with more varied choices. In relation to this, it seems that oral literature such as sinrilik is in an alarming state, since it now receives less attention from the community, and sooner or later it will become extinct.
